Lets face it, dog or even cat feeding stations can get messy. My dog has a habit of looking up and around while she is feeding or drinking water, the result is a mess on the floor.
You can simply put a vinyl mat down or boot tray but I find they tend to skittle around the floor. After much research I discovered you can get decent silicone feeding mats that not only stay in place but also keep the "debris field" to a minimum by keeping any spilt water or food on the tray.
This tray can easily be washed and dries fast and houses most on the ground feeding bowls as well as elevated bowls and even the automatic feeders. This protects your floor from scratches too.
These mats are also very flexible, making it easy to pick them up and dump excess water or food. Very simple design but fits nice into any room. You can get other mats that look like bones or with doggy patterns, but there is something to be said for plain, uncluttered and sleek for the feeding station!
If you want something more personalized or "cute" check out the ones below for some fun ideas or would make great gifts too!
Many pets are fed in the kitchen and some make a bigger mess than others. Our last dog lapped her water very neatly and the one before that basically spilt it everywhere. If you get a lot of wetness from the feeding station you want it contained either in a rubber style mat (the first one pictured) where you can pour it off or mop it up, or absorbed in the cotton blend mats (above) with the rubber backing so that it can be washed.
If you want something with a bit more personality then check out the designs. No need to hide the feeding station anymore!
